About BiteLume

About BiteLume and the developer behind it

BiteLume is an independent iPhone app built by Marwan Akhandaf. It turns a meal photo into an editable calorie and macro estimate, helping people spend less time searching a food database and more time noticing useful patterns.

What BiteLume is

An AI calorie counter for iPhone that estimates calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat from a food photo. Users review the detected meal before saving it, then follow food, water, activity, weight and progress in one place.

Why BiteLume exists

Food tracking often breaks down at the slowest step: finding every item, guessing a database match and entering a meal component by component. A photo can shorten that first draft. BiteLume is designed around that lower-friction starting point while keeping the review step visible.

The aim is not to turn a camera into a laboratory. It is to make an imperfect but useful estimate easier to check, save and compare over time.

Who develops BiteLume

Marwan Akhandaf is the developer and seller named on BiteLume's public Apple App Store listing. The app launched in June 2025 and its current listing identifies it in Apple's Health & Fitness category, with Food & Drink as a secondary category.

What a meal photo cannot know

A single image cannot measure exact weight, see oil used in a pan, reconstruct every ingredient in a mixed dish or know how much food was left behind. BiteLume therefore presents nutrition values as estimates and asks users to review the result.

For recipes that need repeatable precision, use measured ingredients and cooked yield. For nutrition decisions connected to a medical condition, follow a qualified healthcare professional's plan and measurement method.

How the website is prepared

Product statements are checked against the public App Store record. Nutrition guides distinguish general evidence from app estimates and link supporting material where it affects the answer. Our editorial policy explains source selection, dates, corrections and the limits of this content.
